At the Shanties 2008 festival in Krakow, Four’n'Aft were honoured with the prestigious award of:
“Nagrode Prezesa Polskiego Zwiqzku Zeglarskiego za autentyzm i wysoki poziom artystyczny Jury przyznalo zespolowi “Four’n'Aft”
Which translated is:
The Prize of the President of the Polish Yachting Association for the authenticity of their committment to the nautical tradition and the highest level of artistic achievement has been awarded to the group “Four’n'Aft”.
We were as amazed as we were humbled by this honour. Amazed, because we didn’t even know that we were entering a competition – we were simply singing in a concert as far as we were aware, and humbled because the Polish audiences took us to their hearts and enjoyed our music.
Our award was a beautiful brass ship’s bell mounted on a wooden plinth. Explain that one away at airport security!
Thank you to all our Polish friends, the ones we have met before and the new friends we made at Krakow this year. It was our pleasure.
